Landis Valley offers your child many opportunities to experience the life of a Pennsylvania German farm child from the 18th and 19th centuries.

Summer Camps

History comes to life for kids during themed summer camps at Landis Valley.  In Summer Sampler, to be held July 12 - 15, 2016, children ages 5-11 become farm children, with chores to do, games to play, and hearth-cooked food to make and eat.  In Historic Trades, to be held July 19 - July 22, 2016, older kids (ages 12-17) will enjoy a mini apprenticeship as they complete advanced projects in trades such as tinsmithing and open hearth baking.

Hands-on History Days

Hands-on History Days provide children of all ages the opportunity to experience a living history farm and village through hands-on activities:  children's historic games and chores, wagon rides, one room school house lessons, PA German decorative art, and more.  Please view our calendar of events for more information or contact the Education Department.

Children's Winter Camp -

Children's Winter Camp will be offered Tuesday & Wednesday, December 29 & 30.  Each session will last from 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. The cost is $45.00 for both days. LVA Members are $40.00 for both days. This camp is geared towards ages 5-11.

This year we will have a different theme each day. The first day will be “Santa’s workshop.” Campers will learn to make toys and games that were popular with children in the 1700 – early 1900’s. The second day campers will learn the basics of open-hearth cooking. This day will also include making a simple PA German holiday meal and enjoying it for lunch.

Please call our Education Department to register.  Registration is limited to 20 campers.  Call early!
